MANIFESTO

Barriers are breaking down between fine and commercial art, the mainstream and the underground, the local and the international. Distinctions that once seemed clear have blurred, or have disappeared together.

Focusing on these emerging trends in visual art and design, each issue of Half Empty features interviews with visual artists and designers, plus original works of art created specifically for the publication. Added to the mix are as many stickers as we can get our hands on, because stickers are punk-rock.

Published twice annually, issues take the form of a 40+ page broadsheet newspaper. These are augmented by activities on our website, including exclusive features and specially commissioned artist’s projects.

REVIEWS

"The whole mag, which is printed on newspaper stock, is really great. We especially liked two articles - Art In Retail in which Marty interviews Sebastien Agneeseens, the curator from Diesel Denim Gallery in New York, and Jeremy Bailey, the curator of Nike Presto Showroom in Toronto. Bailey's so candid with his comments that you feel like you're having your fifth beer with the guy at the local pub. Great stuff. Check out Half Empty on the web and subscribe. We are. It's well worth it. This is the type of magazine that should be supported."

- Wooster Collective

"Half Empty is a wonderful magazine that's been floating around the web since 1998. It succeeds in being artistic and interesting, with a loveable zine/punk rock feel, in nature of content and delivery... Innovative and inspiring."
