Pulse Check: Which brands are you absolutely loyal to?

We asked our youth community their opinion on brands, check out some of their comments:

"The first thing that makes a brand is what it stands for. The second thing is that the price is reasonable, and the third thing is that the brand must be stylish. That's why I choose NFA, a snowboarding company from British Columbia... The thing that separates NFA from other companies is the 'attitude'. The reasons that I would change brands are price and quality. If the new brand had those two aspects, I would be sold."

"I'll be honest: Advertising has a way of luring me in. For example, a number of times I have purchased Pillsbury products... this may be due in part to the fact that they are extremely convenient and taste surprisingly good, but what it really comes down to is that oh so cute Dough Boy!...I guess you could say I am loyal to them, as for why, well it must be their little mascot, because I can't see myself purchasing the same product if it came in some boring container."

"In terms of clothes I tend to be loyal to something until it no longer meets my needs. These needs are the following: it must fit well; it should be comfortable yet stylish; it must have a fairly reasonable price...Mavi Jeans is another brand I am loyal to...unless they dramatically change they way they design them I can guarantee that my next pair of pants will be Mavi...All in all, if it ain't broke I won't fix it."

" I don't really have reasons for [my purchases]... it's just what I've gotten used to and like. Friends and family sorta influence this, I mean when my first good Walkman was Panasonic and that stood up to my abuse for two years before pooping out, hey - that's a good piece of equipment..."

"I eat what my parents buy, and when I move out I'm sure my shopping list will include all of the same...I do have to admit that my basketball shoes have always been Nike...but by pure coincidence, they are the only ones I can get tight enough. Show me a pair of shoes that fit my AAA feet and I'll be your friend for life... If I find something I like it is more likely that I will buy it again, but I show no loyalty."

"The reason I'm loyal is more out of laziness... it's the fact that when I need something to replace the one that's falling apart, I know where to go, how much it will cost and how long it will last... How the company is run (environmentally), or whether they give more to charitable causes and so on, does interest me, but rarely enough to convince me to try it. But a company that I already am loyal to will strengthen my loyalty to them by doing such at thing ... I'm loyal to most of my brands because they are reliable, durable ...So in conclusion: I'm loyal to the brands that continue giving good quality, and are faithful of past customer's tastes. If they have the better product consistently or almost, I'll stay with them. When one of these things breakdown, I change my Brand!"

I would definitely say the one brand that I am completely loyal to is Heinz. This company has been part of my life since I have been born. As a huge fan of French fries, ketchup was always very important...Heinz has not let me down by changing the classic taste and allowing me to always rely on great tasting ketchup."

"I have always been a Pepsi loyalist. Pepsi is just a much cooler Company; the reason for this is because they manufacture Dr. Pepper, which is the best drink ever!...The quote "If you find a good thing stick with it" is bullshit, "If you find a good thing, continue to use it until you find better" is my philosophy."
